Earlier this month, our Heartstrings Program hosted its very first concert in our new Music Speaks Series. This is part of a free 3-concert series where our community can enjoy an evening filled with amazing music at no cost this spring. It was an incredible launch with a wonderful crowd!
A Night of Culture and Storytelling Through Music
Our featured musicians, Brock and Chinobay, brought a powerful cross‑cultural music experience to the stage. During the concert, they shared the origins and cultural significance of their traditional instruments and demonstrated how each one is constructed and played. Their blend of storytelling and live performance offered the audience a unique look into global musical traditions, turning the event into an immersive learning experience.
The duo’s artistry and knowledge of world percussion and East African musical heritage created a performance that was inspiring and engaging for all. Our Music Speaks Series is designed to bring people together through meaningful music experiences, and this concert reflected that mission beautifully!
Community Partners Who Made It Possible
We are sincerely grateful for the support of the Iredell Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council. Their partnership has played an important role in bringing these enriching and accessible arts experiences to our community.
We also extend a special thank you to the Mooresville and Lake Norman Exchange Club for providing delicious refreshments for our guests during our concert.
The success of our first Music Speaks Series concert has us even more excited for our second concert of the season! We look forward to welcoming the community back for our next free concert on Thursday, April 9th, from 5:30 to 7 PM, featuring DaShawn Hickman. View the flyer below for more details! We can’t wait to see you there.
