Seventeen years ago, Omer and Wendy met someone who fostered children. That conversation left a lasting impression on them. The idea of providing a safe, nurturing environment for children in need felt both simple and profound. It was a way to make a difference: not through grand gestures, but through everyday care and compassion. So they said yes.
That one decision became the beginning of an amazing journey. Since then, Omer and Wendy have fostered 25 children, each with their own story. They began by working with their local county, learning the ropes and building relationships. As their experience grew, they became Therapeutic Foster Parents with Grandfather Home for Children, where they supported children with more complex emotional and behavioral needs. Over the years, they also partnered with other agencies, always guided by the same purpose: to offer stability and love to foster children in need.
In October 2024, Omer and Wendy returned to Children’s Hope Alliance. Grandfather Home for Children is part of CHA’s history, so this return felt like coming home. It was a full-circle moment that reflected their longevity in fostering and their deep connection to the mission and values of CHA.
Omer and Wendy will tell you that fostering hasn’t always been easy, but they’ll also tell you it’s been worth every moment. They live a quiet life, nothing extravagant, and focus on creating a space where children feel safe and supported.
One of the things they value most about being part of CHA is the sense of partnership that allows foster parents to have a voice within our organization. Omer and Wendy appreciate that CHA invites foster families to share feedback, be involved in decision-making, and help shape the future of care. We’re a place where their experience is respected.
