Carrie’s Story: A Single Mom’s Journey into Fostering

Image

Carrie is a devoted single mom whose kindness has always been focused on helping children in foster care. Her journey started when her oldest daughter was just two years old. That’s when Carrie made a meaningful decision to pursue a career that would allow her to make a difference. As a therapist, she spent many years working with children on the autism spectrum, offering not just professional support but also genuine care and understanding.

About a year ago, Carrie and her daughters opened their hearts and home to become a foster family. Carrie says the experience hasn’t always been easy, but it’s been incredibly rewarding. The children they’ve welcomed have faced tough challenges, and Carrie believes they deserve all the love, patience, and support her family can give.

One moment that stands out for Carrie is the warm hug she received from her foster child on the very first day they met. It was a simple gesture, but so full of meaning that it still brings a smile to her face. She says the hugs haven’t stopped since, each one a reminder of the trust and connection they’ve built.

Looking back, Carrie says fostering has been the best decision. For her and her daughters, it’s brought a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened their bond, and filled their lives with gratitude and joy. We’re so lucky to have people like Carrie in our CHA foster care family, who continue to make children’s lives brighter every day!
