An Amazing Gift from Three Inspiring Girl Scouts

Heartstrings is honored and overjoyed to share a very special story of generosity, creativity, and community spirit. Zoe, Caroline, and Sophia, three incredible Girl Scouts, chose to complete their Silver Award project right here in our new Heartstrings building. 🧡

As part of their project, these thoughtful young leaders designed and built two beautiful kids’ corners, each created with different age groups in mind. The spaces are filled with bookcases full of books, puzzles and games, bean bag chairs, cozy rugs, and so much more to make children feel welcome and at ease!

But their contribution went far beyond design. These girls put in hours of hard work, moving furniture, organizing materials, and carefully arranging every detail to make the spaces feel like home.

About our Heartstrings Program

Our Heartstrings Therapeutic Music and Art Program is a free of charge program offering educational, therapeutic, and experiential music and art opportunities to enrich the lives of children and families considered at risk. We are founded on the belief that music and art are effective and empowering methods for problem solving and promoting growth and well-being in individuals, families, and communities.

Children and their immediate families referred by or receiving services from Children’s Hope Alliance, or children and families who live in or around Iredell County who may be vulnerable to adverse physical, psychosocial, or behavioral outcomes can participate in our Heartstrings classes and services.

Germain Grounds Coffee Bar

We are also proud to offer our Germain Grounds Coffee Bar, home to our incredible Barista Program for teens. This program provides youth with real-world job experience, including resume building, interview preparation, and hands-on training in brewing methods, beverage preparation, and customer service. Beyond job skills, our teens also develop strong pro-social skills that set them up for success in all areas of life.

If you are in the area, we’d love for you to stop by Germain Grounds to grab a coffee and check out our new kids’ corners. You will see firsthand the love and care that Zoe, Caroline, and Sophia poured into this project and the joy it brings to our Heartstrings kids and families every day. 🥰

To Zoe, Caroline, and Sophia, thank you for your creativity, your compassion, and your incredible gift to the Heartstrings community. We are so grateful for the impact that you will have on kids’ lives!
