Before he turned two, Kevin was brought to the emergency room with signs of physical and suspected sexual trauma. It was a difficult and uncertain time that led to his placement in the custody of the Department of Social Services. From there, his journey toward healing and stability slowly began.
At around age three, Kevin was welcomed into a therapeutic foster care home through Children’s Hope Alliance. This loving environment gave him the space to begin healing and learning healthy behaviors. Over the next two years, Kevin became eligible for adoption and grew to be an important part of his foster family. Despite their deep care and commitment, Kevin’s behavioral challenges began to get worse.
When Kevin turned five, he was referred to the Intensive In-Home treatment program at Children’s Hope Alliance. This program is designed to help children and adolescents heal from trauma and avoid the need for residential care by providing compassionate, trauma-informed support in the home. The goal was to stabilize Kevin’s behaviors and preserve the bond he had with the family he had come to know as “mom” and “dad.”
Kevin’s journey through the program was filled with ups and downs. There were moments of progress and setbacks, but through it all, he remained resilient. With the close collaboration between his therapeutic foster family and the treatment team, Kevin made incredible progress.
Now, at six years old, Kevin has successfully graduated from our Intensive In-Home program. He is thriving, full of potential, and on the brink of being adopted by the caregivers who have loved and supported him for the past three years. Kevin’s story is a powerful reminder of what is possible when children are surrounded by love, stability, and the right support.
