What is the Heartstrings Music & Art Program?
The Children’s Hope Alliance Heartstrings Therapeutic Music & Art Program is committed to offering educational and experiential music and art opportunities to enrich the lives of at-risk children and their families. We are founded on the belief that music and art are effective and empowering methods for problem-solving, and promoting growth and well-being in individuals, families, and communities.
Who can take classes at Heartstrings?
Children and their immediate families referred by or receiving services from Children’s Hope Alliance who live in or around Iredell County – clients, birth families, and foster or adoptive family members are all eligible. What classes are available?
Students can learn skills like playing guitar and piano, painting, and drawing, as well as experiencing live performances from area artists. They will learn how to paint, draw and/or arts & craft classes, and/or learn to play guitar, piano/keyboard, percussion, and/or voice lessons (classes available depend on volunteer teacher and artist availability).
What is the cost?
All of these activities are provided FREE of charge, Monday through Saturday. Heartstrings is a volunteer-driven music and art program for the children and their families who are referred or served by CHA in and around Iredell County. And thanks to generous funding from the Gracie Foundation, we’ve renovated a building on our Barium Springs campus to house this new program.
