How Does It Work?
Child ACTT is a unique, technology-based, family-focused, complete multidisciplinary service with the mission of healing hurting children in their own homes and communities.
Members of a clinical team (psychiatric nurse practitioner, registered nurse, licensed therapist, behavior specialist, respite provider, and other qualified professionals) visits the family’s home or meet in a community setting several times each week. This amount varies based on family needs, and the team is on-call 24/7 throughout the treatment, which lasts 6 months on average. This intense, unique service is designed to maintain home stability when a youth is at risk of residential placement or hospitalization.
This team provides:
- 24/7 Crisis Response & Management
- Addressing Social Determinant of Health Needs (connections to needed community resources for food, utilities, housing, clothing, and other basic needs that impact family stability)
- Evidenced Based Therapy & Treatment
- Data-driven treatment planning and assessment through partnership with Outcome Referrals and TOP Assessment tool
- Professional Parenting option for children who need a safe place to live while learning new skills
- Planned In-home and in-community respite
- Psychiatry & Medication Management
- Health & Wellness Coaching
- Individual & Family Therapy
- Care Coordination
- Enhanced Safety Planning

As a technology-based service, Child-Focused ACTT families are provided with smartphones to increase engagement with our professional team. Clients use these phones to participate in telehealth sessions, complete mood alerts, utilize online treatment apps, and communicate securely with the Child ACT Team. This option helps families engage more often than traditional in-person treatments alone. For safety, ACTT smartphones are monitored and clients are restricted from accessing inappropriate materials.
At this time, this service is available to youth and families in the Vaya and Partners MCO catchment area (Alamance, Burke, Catawba, Cleveland, Durham, Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, and Orange Counties).
