As a whole, our state has seen an uptick in the number of COVID-19 cases, many of which are supposed to be a result of the loosening of restrictions on movement and interactions imposed by Governor Cooper. Consistent with the increased number of exposures and cases in North Carolina, we have also seen an increase in the number of exposures on our residential campuses.

Effective Immediately for the GFH campus:

  • ALL staff and kids must have masks on AT ALL TIMES (except eating)
  • Maintain 6 feet social distancing, including meal and group time
  • Minimize any coming and going from the unit
  • Other staff that normally come and go (Clinician, Program Manager, Administrator, Consultant) should quarantine each day after work at home (mask up, social distance, sanitize) to minimize any possible spread to friends and loved ones
  • There must be temperature and symptom checks for all kids and staff twice daily. This is required and must be documented; the RN will document. Continue check in with RN
  • ALL Banner Elk staff are encouraged to be tested

Effective immediately for BSHC campus:

  • increased temperature and symptom monitoring in King and Nelson Cottages

PLEASE do YOUR part to minimize exposures. Follow the 3 W’s at work and at home:

WAIT 6 feet apart
WASH, WASH, WASH your hands
